This is an abridgement of Ptolemy's Almagest attributed to Abū ʿAbd Allāh Muḥammad ibn Mūsá al-Khwārizmī (fl. 9th c.). There are several variations of the title (see fol. 1a),in different hands, indicating these were added at later dates. The astronomical treatise contains many illustrations (in red and black ink) along with some corrections and marginal notes. Several notes indicate that this witness was studied by ʿAlī al-Ḥalabī (see fols. 10b, 12b, 26b?, 36b, 52a, 63a). Also, an ownership note (f. 1a) states that this witness was owned in the early 17th century by al-Ḥājj Sulaymān ibn al-Ḥājj ʿAbd al-Raḥīm al-Baqlī, in Miṣr al-maḥrūsah, 1st of [Dhū] al-Qaʿdah 1011 [= April 1603]. |
