Ibn al‐Majdī was one of the major Egyptian astronomers during the first half of the 15th century. He taught elements of astronomy, and the construction of astronomical instruments, and theoretical astronomy over a period of 20 years at 3 different locations in Cairo, including the al-Azhar mosque, his private residence and the madrasa of Jānibak (see Charette reference).
