He is the middle son of Banū al-Ṣabbāḥ, of the three sons of Mūsá ibn Shākir, generally known under the single name of the Banū Mūsá. The other two are Muḥammad ibn al-Ṣabbāḥ and al-Ḥasan al-Ṣabbāḥ. See also namely Muḥammad ibn al- Ṣabbāḥ, al-Ḥasan al-Ṣabbāḥ, and Banū Mūsá.
