Notes

A commentary on Šams al-Dīn al-Samarqandī’s 13th-century geometrical treatise "Aškāl al-Taʾsīs," a work which contains 35 propositions from Euclid's Elements. Qāḍīzāde's treatise, considered an intermediate level textbook on geometry, was completed 815/1412 and presented to Ulugh Beg along with his Šarḥ al-Mulaḫḫaṣ fī al-hayʾa, a commentary on Jaghmīnī's extremely popular treatise on Ptolemaic astronomy, which became an intermediate level astronomy textbook.
