Ḥasan ibn Ibrāhīm ibn Ḥasan al-Jabartī (d. 1188/1774), a prominent Hanafi religious scholar who taught at al-Azhar University, owned several witnesses of Birjandī's Ḥāšiyaẗ of Šarḥ Čaġmīnī (e.g., see Berlin, Stabi, Landberg 720, Cairo, Dār al-kutub, hayʾa 22 ) and also a copy of Čaġmīnī's al-Mulaḫḫaṣ; Cairo, Dār al-kutub, hayʾa 20). Father of ʿAbd al-Raḥmān al-Jabartī (d. 1825), the chronicler of Egyptian history, including eyewitness accounts of Napoleon's invasion and Muhammad Ali's coming to power. |
